Why You Should Use Real Estate Signs

By Kevin Ierardi

So the time has come to sell your home and you need some real estate signs to make the sale a reality. With some many options for signs what is right for you? How much do these signs cost? Once I have them where should they go? What is a good size for my signs?

Okay, that may sound like a lot to take in for something so simple but these signs can really make a difference. Just think about it for a minute, a couple little signs that are hard to read verse a bunch of big, bold, eye catching signs, which do you think will do better? Which will give you better results?

The first step in the sign choosing process begins with what sign will fit your particular situation. I want to point out, if you have an agent selling your property for you then they will post up a large sign as well as post your property on the MLS so you may not even need to worry about signs.

If you think you may try to sell your home without an agent then you want a "for sale by owner sign." This sign is usually red and white in color and sort of a trademark if you will.

The main thing you want to do with this sign is make sure the information on it, like the phone number is very easy to read.

In some cases people who get for sale by owner signs also attach a box to them which has flyers in it that talk about the property. Be sure if you have flyers that all your contact info is on it and clearly visible.

In regards to the size of your real estate signs remember that a small boring sign will not get much attention. A good rule of thumb here for a lawn sign is 18x24 inches and not any smaller. This will give you room to right and make the sign clearly visible.

Once you have the signs you need you need to know where these signs go. The first spot is on the front lawn of the property for sale nearest the road side. From there you should move down the road to the nearest main street and place a sign on that road. After that the next best place would be a major intersection that is also near the property if possible.

So we have covered almost everything you need to know in regard to your real estate signs except the price. The price of these signs can be somewhat expensive for the good ones at your local retail outlet. So I would suggest buying these signs online because you can get more of them for the same price as your local store. I have included a link at the bottom of this article to a good starting point for your search.

The final piece of information I would like to share here is get even more attention with your signs by using balloons to catch peoples eye. Balloons are a very inexpensive way to grab the attention of the passerby.

Well good luck with your new real estate signs and I wish you great success with your next home sale!
