Looking for a paradise on earth? St. Thomas Virgin Islands gathers tons of tourists that comes for the weather, it's white sand and the crystal clear water offered by the Island. And St Thomas is, between all of them probably the most remarkable one.
St Thomas taxis are amazing that they are at the same time convenient, confortable, good looking and cheap. Traveling with a local that can give you data at the same time about how to move around is a non-negligible bonus. Hence, St Thomas taxi service is much more convenient than the bus service and can lead you to places where both the bus and the boat in St Thomas can't.
Getting to St. Thomas is quite easy as it has daily nonstop flights from big cities around the U.S. such as New York, Newark, Baltimore, Atlanta, Miami, Philadelphia, Boston, Charlotte, Detroit, Chicago and Fort Lauderdale. Connecting flights are available to and from Los Angeles, Dallas, New York, Miami and Atlanta via the San Juan hub. In addition, there's connecting service from Canada, Europe, South America and the Far East. Commuter service between San Juan, St. Croix and St. Thomas is also available. Commuter airlines can transport you between islands in as little as 17 minutes.
Between Public Transportation, Scooters, Motorcycles and Bicycle Country Buses travel between town and Red Hook every hour. They start running at 5.15am from town and end at 8.00pm from Red Hook. There are buses that travel past the airport toward Bordeaux. City buses travel between the Schneider Regional Medical Center bus stop to town starting at 6.15am until 8:00pm. The first bus from the Airport to town is at 6am and the last is 8:00pm. However the public bus system is not very reliable and is not recommended for tourist nor people on a limited time schedule. Scooters and Motorcycles are available for rent but will be quite expensive if you are traveling with 4+ people. More importantly scooters are not the SAFEST way to travel around St. Thomas. Finally, Bicycles are available for rent but clearly more for sport than transportation unless you are ready to sweat a lot.
"Many St Thomas taxis carry 8 to 12 passengers in vans and to get to specific locations such as the Airport. The charge for a taxi exclusively for yourself for a trip from the Airport to Red Hook is $90 for up to 4 passengers total, each additional passenger over 4 is $15. Each for exclusive transport within the Town limits is $55 for up to 4 passengers and $7.00 for each additional passenger."
