Amalgamation Of Calla Lily Bridal Bouquets And Foliage

By Ryker Crogan

In fall more natural looking elements make their way into floral designs. More foliage, fillers, twigs and even vegetables are incorporated into bouquets and arrangements than any other season. Often used in more contemporary, high styled floral designs; callas can add elegance to more natural looking floral designs with the combination of foliage and fillers. These plants are grown after planting bulbs directly in the ground.

These are typically a creamy or milky white in appearance for blooms. White lilies are the more traditional color for these popular blooms. Pale pink is another possible option for the flowers of this plant. These are often found as houseplants but may be used in gardens. Pink is a top choice for a flowering garden or landscape plant. Here are few fillers and foliage that mix well with calla lily bridal bouquet for the fall season.

Hypericum Berry: Hypericum is a popular filler flower that comes in shades of red, green, pink, orange and white. Hypericum is a staple in fall floral and winter floral designs. Hypericum berry pairs beautifully with callas or mixed in with other fall flowers. There are many drastically different species within the genus Hypericum. The ones used by florists are the varieties of Hypericum androsaemum, a native to Eurasia, now in gardens in many parts of the world. Many varieties of this particular species have been developed, mostly for varying colors of the berries.

Seeded Eucalyptus: Seeded Eucalyptus has arrow shaped leaves and seeded pods along the stems that give the foliage a distinctive look. When I use seeded eucalyptus I strip most or all of the leaves off the branch. I prefer using willow seeded eucalyptus because it is a more upright variety and has less of a droop than regular seeded eucalyptus. Seeded Eucalyptus has droopy pale leaves, and has clusters of flower-like seed pods along the stem. Each stem is 20"-26" in length. This product will stay fresh for 2-3 weeks, depending on care and climate.

Green Millet: Millet is a leafy filler that looks like amaranthus. It works well in natural looking floral designs or rustic themed arrangements. Millet is great to use to soften a bouquets look. White calla lilies and millet make a natural looking bouquet for the fall, while purple callas and millet make a richer looking bouquet. Another one is Lemon Leaf. Lemon leaf, also known as Salal tips, has oval shaped foliage with woody branches. It is a great green to use in wedding bouquets. Lemon leaf can add stability to flimsy blooms and give a bouquet a more finished look. Leaves can be cut and shaped to fit the style of the bouquet.
