Basics About Bars In Newport RI

By James Thompson

Bars are the retail business establishments that sell and serve alcoholic beverages including wine, liquor, and beer to customers. Mineral water, soft drinks and other non-alcoholic drinks are also available in some besides snack foods. Depending on the situation, names like club, pub, saloon, and tavern are also used to refer to these facilities. Bars in Newport RI are pleasant to visit because they maintain a high level of hygiene all the time.

Throughout history, public drinking spaces have been referred to using different names. For instance, in colonial United States, meetings were majorly held in taverns. Taverns provided meeting places because most institutions were still weak. The turn of the nineteenth century saw members of the working class preferring spending leisure time in saloons. Today, all around the world, the name bar finds more use than most other names.

Many reasons made the consumption and selling of alcohol to be made illegal in many states during the twentieth century. The prohibition was held for a better part of the initial half of the century. Iceland, the United States, Norway, and Finland are among the countries that enforced the prohibition. Despite the illegalization, these facilities continued to operate illegally. Names like speakeasies, blind pigs, and blind tiger were used to refer to them.

The activities of bars are under the regulation of governments to restrict their activities. In the US, minors cannot enter bars. If the bar also sells food, minor may enter, but the law prohibits them from drinking alcohol. They can only eat food and non-alcoholic drinks. In other jurisdictions, bars are only allowed to be located in certain parts of the city or town.

There may also be restrictions on the kind of alcoholic beverages that can be served in the facility. Some only have the license to sell wine and beer to their customers, with hard liquor being prohibited. In other jurisdictions, owners of bars are legally responsible for the behavior of patrons they serve. The legal responsibility may include deaths and injuries sustained as a result of driving while intoxicated.

The kind of facilities fund in bars are decided by owners and the management staff in the place. Drink menu, name, lighting, and decor are all decisions of the management staff and owner. However, owners and the management have no influence on the kind of patrons come in. These facilities are classified based on various criteria one of them being type of patrons. Under this class, major types are singles, sports, neighborhood, college, biker, cop, and gay bars.

The establishments can also be categorized basing on what kind of entertainment dominates in them. This category has many types including music, topless, karaoke, blues, dance, drag, sports, and salsa bars. Large screens are contained in a sport bar for patrons to enjoy watching games. Soccer, rugby, basketball, cricket, football, volleyball, and tennis are some of the games watched.

People who go to bars do so for different reasons. Whereas some go to grab a beer, others are more interested in socializing and meeting new people. Others appear in groups to have fun and enjoy watching games together.
