Looking For A Challenger Rhd Conversion

By David Allen

If you are moving to a country where they drive on the other side of the road with a US made vehicle, a lot drivers will have the vehicles controls moved to the opposite side of the car. If you are looking for a challenger rhd conversion there are a few options available after some homework has been done. It is not a legal requirement in most countries but making the changes should make driving a lot more comfortable.

When you have made the decision to convert your Challenger there are more changes to be made than moving a few basic driver controls. Pedals, the steering wheel and some electrical switches will need to be relocated and other bits may need slight adjustment. Exhaust systems, brakes and headlight aim will also need adjustment to make sure the vehicle is safe.

The least costly way of getting a conversion is to purchase parts kit and do the job yourself. This can be a fairly cheap way to convert a vehicle and it will be operational afterwards. You need to be mindful that the end results when using kit conversions will be fairly crude with chains, metal levers and small components exposed to the driver.

When you are trying to find a kit some of the internet retailers are the best place to start. Suppliers will have many kits in stock for Challenger cars and the items will be shipped to your home with fitting instructions. As well as the cost of the parts some other custom tools may be needed to do the job and they should be able to supply you with these.

A much better way of getting conversions done is to submit your vehicle to a company who can do the work. There are specialized companies who can carry out this work and the final results will be of a high standard. It will obviously cost a lot more than the kit conversions but it will be worth it as the modifications will be covered by a guarantee.

When having conversions done by a firm, the finished results are much better than you will get from a kit. All components fitted are hidden and the vehicle will look as though it was manufactured as a right hand model. Most of the companies offer excellent aftercare and can continue to look after your vehicle after the work has been completed.

Whichever conversion method you choose it is important to have the car inspected by the relevant safety bodies. Most firms will issue you with certificates covering all of the alterations and a detailed list of the items that have been changed. If work is done in your workshop then the vehicle will need to be submitted for a safety inspection prior to it being driven on the roads.

When you modify your Challenger, the manufacturer warranty will no longer be valid. The future value of your car may also be affected after the conversion has been done. It is a legal requirement that you notify your car insurers after theses modifications as it may affect the cover they offer.
