Just because I didn't have a huge reaction to thinks on the surface doesn't mean that deep down inside I didn't make a choice. Even though you didn't get to see me put on some display, it doesn't mean that there won't be consequences to your actions.
When I was little, my emotions were out of control. I would always explode and I was pretty close to a living tornado. Everything inside of me was a stress reaction to everything that was happening outside in the world.
However, as I grew up, I started to become much more of an observer than a reactor. I quieted down and started looking at everyone and everything around me with deep interest.
And because I did all of this, I learned some very important lessons about life.
Not everything needs some sort of big reaction.
A display. A fight. A grand gesture. Words exchanged.
There isn't always a need for large reactions to things that are happening in life.
I found out that there's a great deal of strength in having grace under pressure and being fluid instead of rigid. Life isn't as much about what happens to you but rather how you decide to act after it has all happened.
This was one of the greatest things I learned. But there was something else as well...
I learned that action beneath the surface is often called for. You can make decisions about life and what to do when situations go south without them needing to be seen by everyone around you.
You can act...quietly.
Patiently.
Calmly.
Because if you know what is good for your heart and your soul, you will learn that exploding and losing control is only going to harm you in the long run.
It's a great thing to be looking out for yourself and for others as well.
Because I could raise hell, but I won't. I'm looking out for me, and I'm looking out for you at the same time.
It's time to try a different approach.
