Guidelines For Your Firm To Send Out Holiday Ecards

By Brenda Wright

Sending cards to your clients and vendors is a good way to keep your business at the top of their minds. A lot of people appreciate getting cards over getting social media messages and text messages during special occasions. To increase the appeal of your cards and for them to have the most impact, here are some tips to keep in mind when sending out holiday ecards.

The main thing that you need to determine is who you will send out the cards to. Think about all the people that you deal with on a regular basis and even those that you deal with once in a while. Divide this list into different segments, based on how you relate with the people on the list. A good example is that you can divide the list into suppliers and customers. Come up with a different card for each of these lists. Do not send out a general card to everyone on your list.

Customize the cards before you send them. Most people respond better to personalized messages rather than generalized ones. Be sure to include their name. You can even craft a special message for each person in your list; this shows that you took the time and effort to think about them.

Send the cards on time. Don't send them too early or too late. If it doesn't arrive on time then its impact will be lost. In order for you not to be late, you need to design or acquire the cards much earlier than you actually need them. This way, when the card is due to be sent it will be already ready.

When sending out the cards, concentrate on good wishes. Do not include any marketing messages on your card. This is because your customers will just think that you are just after their money after all. Leave out promotional discounts and codes out of your card. Also, avoid any promotional messages. Keep things focused on your goodwill message.

Don't make things complicated. The simpler the card, the better. If you get too complicated, you might also get stressed out since you will have to put in a lot of work into the card. You can even the design the card on your own if it is simple. The other option is to get a designer to come up with a simple card.

Keep things general in the card. This is because people come from different denominations and religious backgrounds. Sending religious messages won't make sense to someone who does not adhere to your denomination. Some people might even be offended by your message since it shows that you do not care about their beliefs.

Sending cards is an inexpensive way of acquiring and retaining your customers. Given the amount of time it will take you to design the cards and send them out versus the impact it will have, it is definitely a worthy investment. If you have not been sending out these cards, then give them a try. It is a good way to keep in touch with your customers and to maintain a positive relationship.
