Selling or buying a car and to drive legally in the city there are several items that are necessary. Transferring and titling are both able to be done simultaneously to speed up the process. Before going to buy that car at a dealership, bring a few staple items along such as drivers licence, insurance, name of your broker if there is one. The dealer will complete all the necessary steps for the buyer with no hassle simply pass your documents along and within two days drive away. Usually there are fees involved but one can request a breakdown of costs and any other administration fees.

The city gives new comers and chance to get settled in and get things transferred over. Within thirty days the paperwork must be taken care of in order for validity. In addition to other documents there must be valid New York based insurance to even get the ownership. If there is a willed vehicle, gift or other family type transfer there are some different forms that need to be obtained. The Department of motor vehicles or website the information can all be found on there according to any given situation. Taxes and other fees may not be charged however in some situations it must be family in order to quality for exemptions.

Having a secondary back up ownership is a good option. Online is not an option for security and confidentiality reasons however going in person or mailing in details are the two avenues available. Make sure to have identification if going in person and for mailing a check or bank draft or certified cheque are acceptable forms of payment.

When it comes to getting that title, have a list and all paperwork together to avoid delays. Last thing on a buyers mind is to have to go back and forth to the sellers home to get missed signatures and other missing information. Buying cars at dealers makes everything simple as its all taken care of for the customer, simple hand over identification and policy number and be on the way to new ownership.
