College Students Love Doing Plays In Ga

By Roseann Hudson

Anyone who has the chance to visit Columbus Georgia may want to check out the Springer Opera House or Columbus State University. These two places offer the best plays in Ga. All of the students who attend the University have had the chance to star in such performances as "Hamlet, " "Romeo And Juliet, " "Macbeth, " "The Importance of Being Earnest, " "My Fair Lady, " Death of A Salesman" and "Equus."

A young man who would like to one day travel the world and act on different stages is currently working in a major show. He will play the role of "Hamlet" in a short period of time and his family is very excited for him. This is one character which has truly gained his loyalty and respect.

Luckily his family was able to see him play the role of Romeo in the show "Romeo And Juliet." He did his best performance within that production and decided to recruit more students to the drama field. The eager male tries his best to avoid mistakes while performing before a live audience. He learns the character quite well and believes in method acting. This merely means that he is always in character before the actual show begins.

This is one young man who takes his craft very seriously and will never make a mistake while performing before a live audience. Columbus State University has even constructed a major building called the River Center for these productions. Years ago the Springer Opera House was the only location that would offer any type of stage production but now everything has truly changed.

The role of Juliet was portrayed by a talented young lady who looks forward to her years as an actress. She is currently working on her character of Lady Macbeth. This is one character that she truly admires and wishes that she had not come to a tragic end. Every human being has always been fascinated by this crazy character who influenced her devoted husband. She also knows that during these productions there are always writers and film critics sitting within the audience.

If the male and female students are lucky they will have a chance to move to New York or California one day. These two states are the best places for young actors who want to earn large amounts of money. Fortunately Columbus will still have many of the older actors who work for the Springer Opera House. These are the people who are a part of this community and they will never leave. A grand lady living within this area works for this theatre every year.

"My Fair Lady" was indeed one of her best shows since the local paper wrote all about her great performance. This woman read the play first and then watched the film which starred Audrey Hepburn. In order to make her character more believable she copied the style of Ms. Hepburn. Eliza Doolittle is a character that many women wish to play since she goes from rags to riches.

Eventually the conservative town of Columbus may be looking at a change within their theatre productions. One very bold drama teacher would like to produce and direct a certain disturbing production called "Oedipus."
