Looking For A Pre Owned Vehicle Inspection

By Steven Young

Most people will think that buying a used car is as simple as seeing a model that they like, paying the asking price and driving away. There is little more to it than that and some careful thought is needed when buying. If you are thinking of buying you may need to look for a pre owned vehicle inspection and there are a few places to find a suitable inspector.

When cars have been used before they may have suffered breakdowns or been involved in a road accident. Most dealers will check all of the models they have for sale and rectify any faults that they find. When spending thousands of dollars on a vehicle it is a good idea to get it independently checked to make sure you will have trouble free motoring.

When searching for an inspection company there are a few places you can look to find a reputable one. Companies specializing in used car checks will advertise locally in Dallas, TX and will also be listed in the telephone directory. The internet is another good place to find someone to come and check out a car. Some motoring clubs and organizations will also have examiners that offer their services.

After you have found a potential purchase you will need to contact an inspection company and arrange a day and time for them to come and examine the vehicle. They will accompany you to the showroom and carry out a very detailed inspection for mechanical and bodywork defects and complete a check list. The inspector will then take the car out for a short drive to check that it runs as it should and that brakes, suspension and steering are all good.

The fees charged by the company will differ depending on how far they have to travel and how many vehicles you need to inspect. If you have a short list of a few cars the job could take all day and will be fairly costly. It is advisable to take a step back when the examiner is working and let them get on with the job in hand.

If any problems have been found on the car these will be noted on the examiners paperwork and this will be given to you. You can then speak with the seller and ask them to fix the faults or drop the price of the vehicle. If the seller disputes the findings the advisable thing to do is leave the premises and find another vehicle that suits.

If you are buying a vehicle privately it is also a good idea to have it checked before you buy. In the past many cars have been sold from residential properties and it has been the case that it is not their house. When the buyers have returned the car the seller is nowhere to be seen and so a full check will avoid this problem.

It should be noted that after the inspection has been done and you have purchased the car the company is not liable for any breakdowns. These checks are only to confirm that the vehicle is not stolen and is road worthy at the time of the inspection. If there are any problems shortly after the checks you will need to discuss these with the seller.
