There are many things that make Alaska adventures unique from all the others. Alaska has an extraordinary geography, economy, climate, people, and culture; providing a wide array of things to experience and places to explore. It truly provides an experience that no other place can offer.

Alaska is one of the U. S states found in the extreme north-west of the North American continent. It has an area of about 1.718 million square kilometres and the largest of all states. However, it has a small population of 731,449 people according to 2012 census. There are various economic activities in this state, including natural gas mining, fishing and oil industries. In addition, tourism forms a major part in the economy of Alaska.

Some of its great features are a long coastline and numerous active volcanoes. You combine the coastlines of 49 states and the Alaskan coastline will beat the result in length. The active volcanoes are present in the Aleutians islands and the coastal regions. You also get a chance to view the volcano with highly symmetrical cone than Mount Fuji of Japan, when you visit Unimak Island. This is actually the largest island of all the Aleutian Islands.

There is also diverse and abundant wildlife in this State. Visitors will get to see rare mammals such as the Polar bear, Caribou, Black bear, the Brown Bear, Dall sheep, Mountain Goat, the Moose and the Orca, among others. A range of fish and bird species are also found here. Such include the Pacific Hake, Longnose Sucker, the Rockfish, the Northern Owl, Snow Bunting and the Lapland Longspur.

You do not have an adventure in this great area until you have engaged in sport fishing. It is an area popular for different types of fish, found in the rivers, lakes and the coastlines. Some popular fishing activities include salmon and halibut fishing; where one will catch Grayling, Trout, Northern pike and Arctic Char.

A great Alaskan adventure would include hunting. This is because the place is a great hunting destination with hunters from different parts of the world coming over to hunt game animals like the mountain goat, caribou, black bear, brown bear, and the moose. Some of the largest game animals in the world such as the moose and brown bear are found here. This makes the State a popular hunting destination. Hunting licenses, game tags, and knowledge of the laws and regulations of the area are needed to participate in an Alaskan hunt.

Besides the many fun activities and sights described above, one would also want to visit during some of their cultural events held annually. These are full of display of the Alaskan culture, giving visitors a better feel of this beautiful state. Some popular annual events to look out for include the Alaskan Hummingbird Festival, the Stikine River Birding Festival, World Art Championships at the Fairbanks, the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race and Blueberry Festival, among others. This Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race kicks off in Archorage and finishes at Nome.

A person going on an Alaskan adventure will surely appreciate its geography, wildlife, culture, and people. These are just some of the many things a person can experience in this magnificent state. An Alaskan adventure is something a person would not want to miss.
