The Porsche 911 Sc Is A Legend

By Gwen Lowe

Buy a sports car is a dream that every car owner has but with the pricing of new high performance or super cars it is out of most peoples reach. Another option is purchasing a used sports car, this does have its disadvantages but at the end of the day you'll be sitting in a head turn vehicle. This is where the Porsche 911 SC comes into the picture.

It's a thoroughbred sports car with none of the modern driver assistance systems. It was built to be driven like a true sports car should be. Feeling the road through the steering wheel while the deep groan of the motor behind you urges you on to depress the accelerator just a little more. Hearing the turbo spin up just before the squeal of the tires let rip on the blacktop can give you a sense of impending doom.

Most Porsches before the SC were producing an average break horse power and other manufactures were producing nearly double that. The turbo is the breakthrough that they needed to put it the same class as the fastest sports cars of the time. This range was nearly discontinued but due to the turbo it managed to survive the chop.

The 911 series nearly had and early end to its existence but the SC managed to keep the 911 tradition going even up to today. The predecessors to the SC we simple flat six motors, naturally aspirated and at the time were producing far less power than their rivals. This might have been the death knoll of the 911 series but one man's vision saved it and proceeded to set up an endless stream of legends to come.

Gearing down brings a few thrills to this vehicle, changing from third gear to second gear as you enter a freeway on- ramp you can feel the rear tires grip hard on the blacktop before hunkering down as the power is released. Your body is gripped by the sudden rush of g forces as it hurtles forward at a great speed.

Not only was the motor upgraded but the entire body shape was designed to keep heads turning for years to come. With its sleek back end dropping down smoothly and the front end lamps peering out of the hood like torpedo tubes it made for one of the most mesmerizing designs of the time. The twin seat hugs the driver and passenger as they hurtle down the road, keeping them safe and secure.

Although it and older vehicle the interior was one of classic design for the time and even to this day it shows the pureness of how vehicles were made. Classic engineering and simple controls made this one of the best cars to drive. It was to be driven without any frills and was for pure enjoyment of driving.

Due to the number of sales compared to its predecessors it is not a collector's item, but that in turn gives all of the people who dreamt of owning a classic sports car an opportunity to own one at a good price. The vehicle will remain one the most iconic of the classics and will always instill a heartwarming feeling in anybody.
