Using A Trade Show Display To Attract An Audience

By Matt Smith

When a business is building its reputation, they must do so with details in mind. While a marketing or promotions team may have great ideas about how to build an audience, being practical is best. Treating a trade show display in the same fashion helps to make attending a show worth the time and energy.

To say the first impression is a lasting impression holds especially true in this instance. Once an event has been found, it is up to the owner or person planning to come up with a logical use for space. Also important is a practical strategy to execute promotional materials.

Some new companies may go overboard in their presentation by adding a lot extra. This is not to say that this is a bad choice as it may bring a good return but sometimes it helps to play things safe. Keeping the space in mind first, as well as the budget, will lead to more sound decisions.

There is also a big difference between choosing the right booth space and going for the cheapest. Those selling food items may not want to be so close to the bathrooms or a door leading to where garbage is dumped. Little things like electrical items are also one of those little details that can make a difference in presentation materials.

Planners should also keep in mind who will attend the event and possible factors that could make or break a presentation. Whether the event is geared entirely to professionals or whether all ages are welcome can determine how a booth should be set up for maximum effectiveness. Normally, the details can be found before registration but sometimes it is the minor details that are overlooked.

Knowing the general direction of people is helpful when setting up a booth for direct sales. When envisioning how the event itself will be set up, it can give an idea as to what the mindset of the prospect may be. This also affects how those attending the booth should present themselves. Though a corner booth may be cheap, the question to ask is will they have to take extra steps to get the attendees attention.

Signage, promotional tools, and other item placement make take practice but it is vital to keep these items safe and visible at all time. Though keeping things at eye level helps, the goal is to place these items where the right person will inquire. This is why a good display can be used to sell as well as network with others.
