Different Jeep Cylinder Heads Types

Owning a four wheel drive requires you with automotive knowledge and the different models and versions of the components of the engine. Wrong parts will not fit and often, it can cause accidents as well. Jeep cylinder heads come in different versions from nineteen eighty to two thousand. There are very vintage cylinders and they are the original models back in the eighties. These are the models that are known to be the quickest in the decade. They are not totally phased out so you can still see some running these days.

Cast iron is the material being used to manufacture the unit. The Visual Identification Point or VIP of a nineteen eighty seven type is quick which contains rectangular ports. There are castings of fuel injector as well as extractor posts shaped with the D.

For those manufactured in the year nineteen ninety one to nineteen ninety five, it looks similar with the earlier version but is different in the side of the port. The exhausts are now square in shape. And the VIP has smaller fuel injector castings compared to the previous model.

The next version came out in the year nineteen ninety six and has been used until ninety nine. This time, it consists of dowel pins, and receiver holes which are found at the head of the cylinder. It has a valve that is like the shape of the hive of bees. An explanation follows that this shape allows a lighter pressure on the valve itself. Additionally, there is a gasket protection and cover.

As for the nineteen ninety nine version, which is the latest, it also contains the two dowel holes. The exhaust ports here are the smallest among the other units in the previous years. This time, the VIP is located close to the spark plug which allows a quicker movement for a huge machine. The coil marks are also added and the bosses alternating with the ports.

All of which serve as boosting mechanism for the jeep to run smoothly and safely. Without the cylinder heads, the vehicle will not be running ideally. The additions have made the jeep perform better as well making it more faster and easier to drive.

The different versions are for different types of jeep because there are still some old vintage ones that are still up and running to date. The new ones require the newest version because they have more demands in their engines which are much stronger and more functional. Thus, it is important to understand these differences so that when you buy replacements, you will buy the right part.
