Los Angeles Large Group Health Insurance

By Jeannie Monette

Group health insurance contracts can be renewable each year, and the insurance laws of the state provide for this as mandated, provided also that the employee is not remiss with the premium payments. It can be at the employer's discretion to continue providing group health insurance to their employees, but if they are considered large employers or those with 50 or more employees, they are obligated to offer this to their employees. Those considered small employers, or with less than 50 employees can opt to continue with providing the group plan, although this can also be the better motivation factor they can offer to employees.

Group medical and health plans offered by one company may not be the same with those offered by others. The medical and health plans may be regulated by the state, although many employers may opt to choose the medical plans that will be more beneficial to their employees. It is normally believed that employees will get more motivated and will work harder, if the benefits they are getting will be very advantageous to them. This is a good motivating factor given them, the good medical and health benefits they are getting, and more so if their dependent family members are included in the group medical plan.

Group health insurance plans may be provided by the company but this is also fully backed up by a health insurance provider. Insurance premiums may be collected by the employer but they also have participation in the premiums to be paid, thus they have to pay in full to the insurance provider, for the employees to avail of the health benefits offered. The insurance company assumes all the claims when these are filed.

Basically, group insurance plans offered by employers will benefit employees in terms of savings incurred, compared to what employees will pay premiums to standard insurance plans. For group insurance plans, employers pay a portion of the premiums, thus already big savings to the employees. This can also be a source of motivation to employees, to give their all while in the services of the company, because they have an insurance plan for their medical and health needs, and can even be for dental and optical needs, depending on the type of group insurance plan given.

There are also group insurance plans that give comprehensive care to employees and even to direct beneficiaries of the employees. This may be the more expensive type in a way, but with the many medical and health benefits that employees get, they may not be at a disadvantage at all. Employers can get discounts from insurance providers, thus may not also be exactly more expensive after all.

In the over-all, group insurance is more beneficial to employees, with the many health and medical benefits they can enjoy, and at premium costs that are not exactly high for them. They get savings because their employers are paying partly the costs.
